Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor

A big and sunny window is on the front of the shop and you enter quickly and walk to the counter. After ordering a big sundae you take it out to the tables in front to sit, talk, and enjoy. All around you, the topics are differing, and you zoom in on different tid bits here and there catching up on everything that happened in the wizarding world over the summer.

These are the ships I sail. Some more ardently than others. Of course there's only one ship I'm willing to go down in flames with. As an ardent H/Hr shipper, I shall stay with the ship as the captain does. No matter what. Ardently proclaiming that it is the best ship ever, and the one destined to prevail. To see why I support these ships simply click on the link you're interested in. James/Lily

Shipping is a term that was coined in the HP4GU webforums. It's basically a shortened term of relationships and is referring to romantic pairings between characters. Fans have made quite the war out of this subject especially surrounding whether Hermione will get with Harry, Ron, or neither. The "wars" and debates often use nautical terms such as "Firing Cannon" at the opposing ships. (Canon is a well known term used to describe the original body of works, in this case the HP books) Jumping ship is used to describe people who change their pairings. People who choose not to board any ship are usually floating around in life preservers. There are as many ships out there as there are characters in the book. From tongue in cheek pairings like Ginny and the Giant Squid, to serious and highly debated pairings like Harry and Hermione.

If you're not familiar with the ships, don't feel too bad. The acronyms and jargon used in these debates is ever growing and ever changing. Keep up with the terms at HP4GU Inish Alley. Also, keep in mind that many of these debates started out in the Theory Bay or T-Bay for short. They're usually presented in story like, or role-playing fashion.
